Oak Technology's PM-48(TM) iDSP Featured in Lexmark's New X820e MFP and X7500 MFP
Oak Technology, a provider of embedded solutions for the optical storage and digital imaging markets, announced that its PM-48 iDSP image processor is featured in the new, high-performance Lexmark X820e MFP and Lexmark X7500 MFP Option products that provide print, copy, scan and fax capabilities. This design further demonstrates Oak's presence in both the printing and multifunction markets, as well as the company's continued role in providing technology for the market's transition from single-function to multi-function peripheral (MFP) devices.
The Lexmark X820e and X7500 MFP Option are designed for use with Lexmark's recently announced W820n monochrome network laser printer. They feature an integrated 7.5-inch color touch screen for easy operation and allow access to functions such as copying, email, routing and faxing scanned information. In addition, both the X820e and the X7500 Option can be hooked into an existing corporate directory using LDAP integration.
These newest additions to Lexmark's MFP product line will increase scanning performance with the use of an Oak-designed controller incorporating Oak's PM-48s.
Oak Technology's PM-48 is a high-performance, programmable imaging digital signal processor (DSP) designed specifically for image processing in high-speed office equipment including printers, scanners, digital copiers, and multifunction peripherals (MFPs). The PM-48 device is based on a single-instruction multiple data path (SIMD) parallel processing architecture with an instruction set designed for image processing and offers superior image processing performance. Specifically, the PM-48 contains eight parallel pipelined processors that deliver up to 4 billion instructions and 1 billion multiply accumulates per second. The PM-48 is now available.
