Oki Data Americas Launches C6100 Series; Delivers High-End Workgroup Color Printing in a Compact and Affordable Package

C6100 Series offers businesses of all sizes the power and control of a high-end
workgroup printer at a sub-$1,000 price point for everyday color printing

Mount Laurel, N.J. (March 30, 2006) – Oki Data Americas, which markets its products under the OKI® Printing Solutions brand, today introduced the C6100 Series digital color printers providing the power and control of a high-end workgroup color printer in a compact and affordable package.  The new series features “HD (high-definition) Color” technology enabled by new microfine toner and multilevel LED heads from OKI Printing Solutions, and delivers exceptional performance and media flexibility.  With advanced productivity and security features bundled into a compact printer, businesses now have access to the best of both the high-end workgroup and desktop worlds.

“We created a crossover product with outstanding speed and professional quality that bridges the common desktop and heavy workgroup printers,” said Candice Dobra, Director, Printer Marketing for Oki Data Americas. “The C6100 Series is ideal for businesses of all sizes that are now faced by more demanding color workloads, and for those seeking a balance of performance and price for everyday color applications.”

The C6100 Series delivers best-in-class total cost of ownership (TCO)[1] when compared with similarly priced products with cost per page (cpp) targeting 9.6 cents (color) and 1.5 cents (black-and-white).  Utilizing OKI Printing Solutions exclusive HD Color technology, which combines the company’s new microfine toner and multilevel LED heads, it exceeds the print quality of other sub-$1,000 color lasers on the market today.  This innovative technology produces photo-like quality on regular office paper, eliminating the common pressure for business users to buy expensive media to achieve high-level output quality.

Addressing the growing need for security and cost control, the C6100 Series includes several advanced security features to protect confidential data, as well as a Job Accounting utility[2] to restrict color printing to specific users and track costs on a per job basis.

The C6100 Series elevates the standard of convenient and adaptable quality color printing with features, including:

  • Fastest speed in its class with up to 26 pages per minute (ppm) in color and 32 ppm in black-and-white[3] delivering outstanding workgroup productivity
  • Low-cost duplex printing on both sides of the paper to minimize paper costs (standard on C6100dn/dtn/hdn; optional on C6100n)
  • Low cpp targeting 9.6 cents (color) and 1.5 cents (black-and-white) to ensure best-in-class TCO for more economical color printing capabilities
  • HD Color technology, combining new microfine toner and multilevel LED heads and 1200 x 600 dpi resolution to render finer detail, more saturated colors and more precise toner placement than ever before
  • Outstanding media handling delivering up to 203 gsm for output on heavy weight media and printing up to 8.5” x 47.25” banners allowing users to print professional-quality color marketing and presentation materials in-house, saving time and money
  • Postscript 3 emulation and PCL6, ensuring Mac compatibility and allowing it to perform in workgroup environments more efficiently
  • Print job data encryption for secure printing, which ensures confidential documents are only viewed by authorized users by encrypting data transferred over the network and enforcing the input of a 4-10 digit PIN code at the printer prior to document printing (standard on C6100hdn only; optional on C6100n/dn/dtn)
  • Job Accounting utility that provides the ability to restrict color printing and track costs on a per job basis
  • Downloadable WebPrint utility that saves time and paper by ensuring hassle-free Internet printing, including automatic scaling of Internet pages to fit the width of standard paper so your print job isn’t truncated

In the U.S. market, the C6100 Series’ estimated street prices are $899 for the C6100n, $1049 for the C6100dn, $1249 for the C6100dtn and $1399 for the C6100hdn.  It is available starting in May in North and South America exclusively through OKI Printing Solutions authorized solution providers and direct marketing resellers.  The C6100 Series builds on parent company Oki Data Corporation’s history of leadership and innovation in color printing.  It is based on the 7th generation of printing technologies advanced by Oki Data Corporation, such as digital LED technology and Single Pass Color™.  This technology allows Oki Data to manufacture products that require fewer moving parts and enable more efficient operation than competitive products.

Each product in the C6100 Series comes with a one-year overnight exchange warranty and an industry-leading five-year warranty on the digital LED print heads.  Like all OKI Printing Solutions products, C6100 Series is backed by comprehensive support from authorized OKI Printing Solutions solution providers.  In addition, the company provides live, toll-free[4] technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with agents based in North America.
