Oki Increases Market Share in Color
Oki Data Americas, Inc., announced that it has become the No. 3 color page printer manufacturer in the United States, up from the No. 4 spot the company previously held, based on industry data just released by IDC in its Quarterly Printer Tracker. IDC is a premier global market intelligence and advisory firm in the information technology and telecommunications industries.
“The color space is filled with opportunity,” said Scott Becker, Vice President of Marketing for Oki Data. “We dedicate ourselves to bringing color within reach of every end-user, and work to deliver to them the solutions that directly meet their needs. Our increased market share serves to support what our customers are telling us: That OKI gives them the best balance of value, cost and performance and allows them to maximize the effectiveness of their communications with brilliant color.”
The numbers show growth for Oki Data both quarterly and over 12 months. In the fourth quarter of 2004, Oki Data claimed 11.5 percent of the color market share, a 31 percent increase from the previous quarter’s hold of 8.7 percent, according to the data. And for the 12 months ending December 31, 2004, Oki Data’s 74 percent growth was greater than the market’s 51 percent increase.
Additional data support the OKI color printer growth trend. In the most recent data released by industry tracking firm The NPD Group, Inc., Oki Data also was ranked No. 3, based on the three-month rolling average of shipments. The NPD Group provides global sales and marketing information for the printer industry in its Monthly Sales Out report. Comparing January-November data for 2004 to the same period in 2003, Oki Data’s market share more than doubled, according to NPD.
