Panasonic Debuts Compact Companion to KV-S1025/20 Workgroup Scanners

Secaucus, NJ April 1, 2009 — Panasonic Communications Company of North America (PCCNA) today announced release of a compact, seven-pound flatbed scanner which allows users of its KV-S1025C and KV-S1020C high-speed, full-color desktop scanners to seamlessly integrate the scanning and archiving of documents unsuitable for processing by an automatic sheet feeder.

The new KV-SS080 scans two-page spreads from books, magazines and other bound volumes and automatically divides the images into separate electronic pages1 and integrates them with data scanned by a paired KV-S1025C-series workgroup scanner. It also enables users to scan and crop passports, datebooks, multiple business cards or small, irregular sized items in one pass.

"The KV-SS080 is a landmark addition to our line of Better Buys For Business and AIIM award-winning compact workgroup scanners," PCCNA Product Manager Bob Curci said. "It gives our customers all the capabilities of a standalone flatbed scanner without sacrificing any of the advanced imaging, network integration and productivity features of Panasonic's industry-leading KV-S1025C and KV-S1020C compact scanners."

Optimized for decentralized front-office scanning environments typical to vertical industries such as healthcare, insurance, transportation and financial services, the duplex KV-S1025C (26ppm/52ipm maximum output) and simplex KV-S1020C (26ppm) scanners feature mixed document and embossed card scanning capabilities, scanner memory auto-erase, ISIS-certified and TWAIN-compliant drivers, and simplified roller removal and replacement.

Excellence in imaging is assured by such proprietary Panasonic innovations as Dynamic Threshold Technology for accurately rendering documents with multi-hued backgrounds, Image Enhancement Technology, which controls and enhances contrast to produce images that frequently exceed the quality of the originals, and multi-color dropout for automatic removal of a full range of RGB colors when scanning documents for processing by OCR or other text-capture applications.

Based in Secaucus, NJ, Panasonic Corporation of North America markets a broad line of digital and other electronics products for consumer, business and industrial use. Information about Panasonic and its products is available at www.panasonic.com.
