Peerless Systems Announces Availability of AccelePrint EX Controller
Peerless Systems Corporation a provider of printing, imaging and networking solutions, today announced the availability of its AccelePrint® EX controller, which provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with the unique capability to upgrade their Graphic Display Interface (GDI) controllers to support Page Description Languages (PDLs). The AccelePrint EX controller saves OEMs time and money by providing them with flexible field upgrade options that can extend and enhance the printing life of any workgroup or departmental laser printer on multifunction peripheral (MFP).
By harnessing the power of the user's personal computer, the AccelePrint family of controllers provides high performance printing while driving controller costs down for OEMs of printing and imaging equipment. Available now, the AccelePrint EX controller offers standard Ethernet connectivity in addition to USB support to drive high speed monochrome and color printers and MFPs. The AccelePrint EX controller is an ideal solution to provide standard Internet shared printing with upgrade options.
Peerless also announced the availability of an optional AccelePrint PDL plug-in that adds extra processing power to support optional page description languages (PDLs) such as PeerlessPrint® 6 and Adobe® PostScript® 3(TM). Both the expandable AccelePrint EX and base model LX controllers can be designed to support the AccelePrint PDL plug-in.
When OEMs choose to enhance the AccelePrint controller family, with the optional PDL upgrade, it allows them to integrate both GDI printing and PDL support into their products for about the same price as a networked PDL controller. AccelePrint controllers are more robust than traditional GDI solutions and are capable of supporting laser printers and MFPs up to 40ppm monochrome and 10ppm color or higher depending on the communication configuration.
AccelePrint is an end-to-end system that features a unique Peerless host based imaging system that is designed to generate a device-ready, compressed raster data stream. This raster data stream provides overall high speed printing capabilities at a very low cost and is based on patented Peerless compression technology. The combination of low cost raster printing capability with the flexibility to upgrade to full featured PDL makes Peerless' AccelePrint controller solutions unique in the market place. The AccelePrint compression technology is the same proven, patented, lossless method that has been engineered into the Peerless QuickPrint® ASIC family. QuickPrint-based solutions from Peerless drive a variety of successful color and monochrome products shipping in the market today, including printing and imaging devices from Canon, Ricoh, Minolta, Hitachi, Tally and Kyocera.
