Print Management Solutions Group Joins Kyocera Mita America Road Tour in Nationwide Managed Print Simplified Launch


Ormond Beach, FL  (Jan. 2010) - Kyocera began its launch of Managed Print Simplified, sm a bold new initiative, which is designed to provide new levels of support and expertise to their Dealer network’s Managed Print services programs with a two week nationwide tour. The tour began in Dallas Texas and made stops in Chicago Illinois, Fairfield New Jersey, Irvine California, and Atlanta Georgia in the first two weeks of December.

Kyocera selected Steve Rolla from the Florida-based Print Management Solutions Group (PMSG) to conduct three hour seminars at each of the stops on the road tour focused on Sales and Service tactics required to make Kyocera printers a very profitable component of every Kyocera dealers MPS program.  We selected Steve because of his track record of success in placing Kyocera printers in his own MPS program in Washington D.C. said Peter Hendrick Vice President of Marketing Kyocera Mita America Inc.  His dealership became one of the fastest growing Kyocera printer dealers in the United States during Steve’s tenure there.

“Kyocera’s product is unquestionably the lowest cost of ownership laser printer product on the market today” said Rolla. “My background as a Service Executive always guided me when I became a Company President to evaluate the aftermarket profitability of a product before I took it on.  The more I became familiar with the Kyocera printer products during my evaluation phase the more I began to appreciate their total Printer offering in addition to its low operating cost. Kyocera’s commitment to an environmentally friendly Ecosys technology made placing the product easy. We took on the product and we never looked back. We were aggressive in our tactics to make placements and as a result, we placed hundreds of them in the first 6 months of our relationship.”

Kyocera made the initial commitment to upgrade its dealer’s MPS programs in early October when they designated a team of their best Network Solutions experts to become Business Development Managers.  The Business Development Managers were exposed to a very comprehensive two day orientation to the MPS market and the training and tactics required for success. This program was conducted by Teri Dunn and Steve Rolla from PMSG in October.  David Ardies was subsequently named National Director to lead the Business Development Managers in early November and began work immediately on Managed Print Simplified.

“The first step of the Managed Print Simplified Program was to get the dealer Principals, Vice Presidents of Sales and Vice Presidents of Service to come and listen to an individual who had already done it in the field”, said Hendrick.  “We did not want another 30,000 foot explanation of MPS; we were looking for something more on the 6 foot level and that’s exactly what we delivered.”

The core of Managed Print Simplified program surrounds training and support.  In addition to the Business Development Manager deployment, Kyocera will help its dealers attend the two day PMSG training programs with MDF funds.  In addition, Kyocera will begin to certify its dealers as Kyocera Managed Print Services experts and list those dealers on the Kyocera web site and provide leads for Kyocera printers to this certified group.  The PMSG  MPS  two day training course that Kyocera will support with MDF funds brings dealer Sales and Service personnel together to be trained by a organization renowned for its professional training curriculum and deliver capability.  Teri Dunn and Kim Ward will conduct the Sales training while Jerry Newberry and Jeff Kelly will be responsible for conducting the Service training.

“The response to the road show has been overwhelming”, said Hendrick.  “Dealers that attended now understand the change in definition of their businesses to be “MPS organizations that sell MFPs.”  Our dealers now understand how to set up an MPS showroom and more importantly the critical need to do so. The tactics they learned to use to place Kyocera printer products, combined with the training they will receive from PMSG, will speed up the evolutionary replacement of other brands of printers to Kyocera brand printers. 

The Dealers were also exposed to the PROs ELITE 100 certification program from BEI PROs.  PROs ELITE 100 certification is an international organization that will be made up of the top 100 Dealers in the United States as identified by their servicing capabilities. Kyocera Mita America announced their desire to see all of their Independent Dealers strive for selection to this Elite group. In another demonstration of its support of Dealer development Kyocera Mita America also announced that they would allow those Dealers who achieved selection to PROs ELITE 100 to access their MDF funds to pay for the training components of the PROs ELITE 100 certification process.
