PrintFleet Inc. Announces PARC facility and Break-though in Automatic Local Device Discovery

Ontario, Canada (August 2008) – PrintFleet Inc., a global leader in managed print software and supporting professional development services, has announced an OEM fueled research facility and a breakthrough in the detection and support for locally connected printing devices.

PrintFleet PARC (Printer Advanced Research Center) is a 1,000 sq ft research lab to be built within PrintFleet’s corporate head office in Kingston, Ontario. PARC will serve as a research and development, and testing center for enhanced data collection capabilities and general device support for PrintFleet’s Data Collector Agent, the core of the PrintFleet software system. PrintFleet PARC will house multiple models of networked and locally connected printers, copiers and MFP’s. “We have worked with OEM vendors on an ad hoc basis to support new models and this has resulted in many vendors offering their devices for testing purposes”, stated Norman McConkey, President and CEO of PrintFleet Inc. “As we streamline our sales efforts to place additional focus on our OEM partnerships, PARC will allow our engineers to explore additional methods of proprietary data collection.”

PrintFleet has also made recent strides in their support for locally connected printing devices. Automatic local device discovery has been engineered into the PrintFleet Suite PRO rapid assessment tool, with plans to integrate this feature into the Data Collector Agent (DCA). The process is completed through 1 simple scan engine within PrintFleet Suite PRO, which now captures the IP address, model name and number, life page count and other critical machine information for local devices connected through a parallel port. “This is a huge breakthrough for the development team and our customers”, stated Wallace Welles, Senior Developer at PrintFleet.

Any OEM companies interested in their devices being certified to communicate with PrintFleet software should contact PrintFleet Technical Support at support@printfleet.com.
