Ricoh Adds Unique Security Feature To High-Volume Digital Imaging Systems

Ricoh Corporation, the Dependable Digital(TM) output company, has introduced the Type 1105 Removable Hard Drive (RHD) for use with the Ricoh Aficio 1085 and Aficio 1105 high-volume digital imaging systems.

The Removable Hard Drive will serve as a unique feature to protect confidential and classified information. The Type 1105 RHD was developed for organizations that manage classified or sensitive information on a daily basis. Such organizations include federal government agencies, the military, government prime contractors and companies that deal with patient medical records. This option secures the digital system's two internal hard drives within two external rigid housings with a key lock system that prevents unauthorized removals. Each Removable Hard Drive is equipped with a numbered labeling system to ensure easy identification while in storage or when being replaced in the system. Also included are two static free carrying cases specially designed to protect the system's hard drives when removed from the system.

While some secure hard drive security solutions simply overwrite information on the system's hard drive and leave the drive embedded in the system making it vulnerable to compromise, Ricoh's Removable Hard Drive products allow end-users to completely remove a digital system's hard drives. The system's hard drives can then be place in a vault or safe, adding an additional layer of security to help safe guard confidential or secret information.

The Type 1105 is Ricoh's second addition of a hard drive information security solution for use with multifunctional products. The first Removable Hard Drive offered by Ricoh is the Type 1045 RHD, introduced last year and designed for use with the Aficio 1035 and Aficio 1045 systems, as an information security offering for the low to mid-volume environments.

The Type 1105 Removable Hard Drive is available now at a suggested price of $3,000.00.
