Ricoh Deploys Global Trade Management Solution

Vastera, Inc., a provider of solutions for Global Trade Management (GTM), announced that Ricoh Corporation has implemented Vastera's TradeSphere Exporter solution. Ricoh Corporation's distribution center, located in California, is using the software's automation processes to enhance the development and flow of trade documentation for the distribution of goods to more than 70 sites throughout North America, South America and some locations in Asia and Europe. All of Ricoh Corporation's distribution centers will use the TradeSphere Exporter system within the next two years.

TradeSphere Exporter addresses trade regulatory compliance, shipment documentation, preferential trade program requirements and submission of statistical reports to various government agencies. Capitalizing on Vastera's proven global trade expertise, Ricoh will use TradeSphere Exporter for enhanced visibility into, and management of, its trade processes. These processes include compliance screening, document generation, tracking and archiving. Ricoh's California distribution center generates approximately 250 international service parts orders per month - each shipment requiring at least five different documents. Previously, Ricoh manually controlled the creation, submission and processing of these documents related to compliance, delivery and government reporting.

"We expect TradeSphere Exporter to improve our trade compliance levels and corporate bottom line, by updating us with the most recent trade regulations and simplifying our trade processes," said Joan Pan, Director, Purchasing Import/Export, Supply Chain Management, Ricoh Corporation. "We are looking forward to the shortened distribution cycles and improved customer service TradeSphere will provide via enhanced efficiencies. Vastera's proven expertise in global trade management will contribute to our corporate momentum and initiatives to optimize business processes throughout our supply chain."

"For global enterprises like Ricoh, even the smallest delays in global trade transaction processing can have a significant impact on the efficiency of the overall supply chain," said Tim Davenport, President and CEO of Vastera. "This is why Vastera provides integration with ERP applications, which allows our clients to take immediate advantage of optimized business processes."
