RISO Previews First in its Series of New Digital Presses
RISO, Inc., has announced the first in a series of new
digital presses, unveiling the revolutionary new productivity-enhancing 8000
Digital Press at Print ’01 in Chicago. RISO’s 8000 Digital Press is powered by the company’s
breakthrough new Zykros™ technology, which enables the printing of more than
one color in a single pass by means of a unique “V” formation of the
printing system within the machine. Dual master cylinders featuring inner press
technology, with an impression cylinder beneath them, create a V-shaped path to
produce printed output with multiple colors in a single pass. As a result of the
Zykros technology, productivity is increased tremendously, colors are more
vibrant and solids are of exceptional quality.
8000 can produce high-quality copies with one or two vibrant colors and superior
solids in one pass at speeds ranging from 60 to 120 pages per minute. The 8000
comes network-ready, facilitating easy and seamless connection to virtually any
standalone or networked PC or Macintosh; enhanced imaging software for
high-quality output of both text and photographs; and a 32-megabyte PCMCIA
Document Memory Card (DMC) that enables users to store jobs in the 8000 and then
print them directly from the 8000 control panel. It also includes RISO printer
drivers with enhanced features for producing high-quality photographs,
eliminating the need for expensive desktop publishing programs.
8000 users can work from a desktop PC or Mac, or scan directly from the glass
platen. An optional edit board allows the user to add spot color to a hard copy
original. The unit’s user-friendly, large-format touch screen is intuitively
designed for fingertip control and gives complete details of all operations,
consumable levels and queued jobs. The 8000 is equipped with many features that
enable users to print and monitor over a network, allowing users to efficiently
monitor print jobs from start to completed copy directly from their computers.
8000 offers the option of 70 standard colors and an unlimited custom color
assortment for customized spot color printing on a variety of paper stocks in
sizes from 4” x 6” to 11” 17”.
