Sharp Increases Market Share in MFP Segments

MAHWAH, NJ--April 5, 2004--Sharp Document Solutions Company of America has gained U.S. market share in the mid-volume monochrome laser MFP market segments in 2003, according to a new report from IDC. Sharp gained three market share points in the 21-30 ppm segment, retaining the number-two slot, and three share points in the 31-44 ppm segment while that segment experienced flat sales overall.
"In partnership with our independent dealer network, we will continue to grow market share by adding new models that deliver increased document security and efficiency to the workplace," he said. "Sharp is the only vendor wholly committed to the dealer channel. Independent dealers are attuned to the needs of the businesses in their communities. Complementing our product introductions, Sharp supports its dealers and their customers with training, sales support and service. The results demonstrate the power of the independent dealer channel to grow their business in a difficult economic environment when provided with the right combination of products and support."
During 2003, Sharp experienced growth in every MFP market segment above 14 PPM and was the only vendor to increase its market share in segments two through four (black and white MFPs). Sharp's focus on the independent dealer network complements these segments because mid-volume products deliver the most value to customers who are purchasing or replacing older MFPs.
