Social Media Strategist Jay Baer to be Featured at United Stationers Vision 2011


DEERFIELD, IL (Feb., 2011) – Noted social media strategist Jay Baer will be a featured speaker at United Stationers’ Vision 2011 conference, May 16-19 at Shingle Creek Resort, Orlando.  Baer will speak at the opening general session on Tuesday morning, May 17, about the rapidly increasing power of social media as a way to reach customers.
A frequent speaker and noted author and blogger, Baer has been providing internet marketing and strategy to a range of companies since 1994.   His book, The Now Revolution will be published in February, 2011. 

“Social media has grown at a blinding speed and influences all levels of business decisions,” said Laura Gale, United Stationers vice president of marketing.  “It is vital that businesses incorporate social media into their strategies, because that’s where customers are creating dialogues and marketers need to be part of those conversations.   Social media will be a key focus of Vision 2011, and we’re excited to have someone with Jay Baer’s credentials as part of the line-up.”

Gale explained that this Vision Conference is going to be very different than past conferences in terms of its focus, energy, and core purpose.   “We want resellers to be able to hit the streets running after the show, armed with plenty of actionable new ideas on how to grow their business.   We will be articulating a clear view of today’s changing marketplace and how resellers and suppliers can thrive.  These are changing times; United Stationers Vision 2011 will be a powerful resource for understanding the change and acting on it.”

The conference will include a kick-off reception on Monday evening, May 16; an opening general session on Tuesday morning, followed by business seminars throughout the day and on Wednesday.   There will also be a huge supplier Expo on Wednesday.   The customary closing event will be quite different than previous Vision shows; details will be announced at a future date. 

The conference is expected to draw several thousand independent resellers, suppliers, technology providers, and key United Stationers personnel.  The Vision 2011 website will be going live very soon with all the details about the show, many pre-event promotions, and lots of surprises.
