Square 9 Softworks Releases Version 2.2 of the SmartSearch Content Management Suite

New Haven, CT (September 29, 2008) — Square 9 Softworks, a leading developer of innovative, business-centric software solutions, announced today the release of Version 2.2 of its award-winning SmartSearch Content Management Suite.

“The introduction of SmartSearch 2.2 is an important step toward our goal of taking SmartSearch from a document management platform to a business intelligence platform,” said Stephen Young, president and CEO of Square 9 Softworks. “SmartSearch 2.2 enables organizations to leverage SmartSearch for all of their business content. Now users can automate more of their business processes electronically and increase efficiency well beyond the point of standard storage and retrieval.”

Version 2.2 of SmartSearch includes five new feature sets:

• With its expanded Electronic Document Viewing Support (Edocs) feature, SmartSearch now supports native storage and viewing for Microsoft Office documents ranging from Office 97 to 2007 in addition to PDF, TIF, JPG, TXT, RTF, CSV and other image formats.

• Using the Document Launch and Launch Version feature, users can now launch any document back into its native application, make changes and then save those changes back into SmartSearch regardless of the file format.

• Two new features for capture automation include KeyFree Indexing (KFI) and Data XChange (DX). Both KFI—an OCR-assisted data entry tool and DX—an automated database lookup tool, dramatically reduce the time needed for labor-intensive data entry.

• The Duplicate Document feature allows documents to be duplicated easily—without being imported again or rescanned—and stored in multiple archive locations with different index data.

SmartSearch 2.2 also incorporates four enhancements to existing features. Improved PDF Rendering permits PDF images scanned at lower resolutions to be viewed with greater clarity. Improved Query Capabilities beef up its crucial ability to create searches using date math along with additional new “Conditions” for business intelligence. Static searches can now be defined in addition to new query editing capabilities. SmartSearch has also added enhanced Scan to Inbox and Insert from Inbox features to strengthen the capabilities of both Twain- and MFP-based capture processes.

The SmartSearch solution is now fully certified to operate on the Windows Server 2008 platform. Certified server platforms now include Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Windows XP Professional; supported clients now include Windows XP Professional and Vista.
