Strategy Development Holds Successful Business Planning Workshop

Bryn Mawr, PA (Jan. 2010) - Dealers are seeking strategies to grow revenue and profits in the face of year over year industry unit placement declines, a shift from A3 to A4 products, a difficult financing environment and new competition for pages from other channels selling managed print services.  Dealers need to be able to develop and implement a sound business plan.

Strategy Development held the inaugural BTA Business Planning Workshop last month in Chicago with a group of 28 participants looking for strategies to grow revenue and profits  The group was comprised of executives from all disciplines including dealer principals, sales leaders, service leaders, and finance and operations leadership.

Participants left the 2.5 day workshop with the tools and processes they need to develop and execute on a sound business plan and to integrate that business plan into their operational processes.

The feedback from some participants clearly demonstrated the value of the learning:

  • “Excellent comprehensive workshop that develops the needed skills to create and execute a results oriented business plan.” - Barry Clark, President, Perry Corporation, Lima, OH
  • “Not only did this workshop demonstrate the urgent need for a solid business plan due to industry trends, it helped define what we need to consider in our plan, provides tools to roll it out and measures our effectiveness.” - Astrid Sloan, Mgr. Admin/finance, Oasys, Burlington, WA
  • “This workshop gave our management team the tools needed to complete a quality business plan that will bring positive interaction and results.” - Ron Carr, President, Oklahoma Office Systems / One Source, Oklahoma City, OK
  • “Excellent renewal factor for me to focus me on the importance of making plan. Forecast planning skill development was excellent. I learned extremely important process techniques.”  -Fred Lawler, Vice President of Service, Fuchs Business Solutions, Milwaukee, WI

Although there are many training programs that address different aspects of planning or focus on improving results in functional areas, until now there was no single program that comprehensively brings together all functional areas into a cohesive plan of action:  The BTA Business Planning Workshop is a 2.5 day program developed and instructed by the consultants from Strategy Development.  You will learn through a combination of instruction, case studies, and class discussion how to build and execute a business plan that becomes a roadmap to achieving your business goals.

  • A snapshot of some of the learning’s from this workshop:

  • How to use your financial statements to make good business decisions

  • Using the Strategy Development Balanced Scorecard to maximize results

  • Conducting SWOT analysis and using the data to grow

  • Using industry trends to plan for a profitable future

  • Launching new initiatives

  • Driving productivity: A key to high profits

  • Engineering processes to improve workflow and employee satisfaction

  • Cash management

The next BTA Business Planning Workshop will be held April 12 – 14 in Phoenix. To register please go to www.bta.org or contact Tom Callinan, callinan@strategydevelopment.org or 610.527.3317
