TABS Releases New Software

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) announced the availability of its exclusive Re-RITE software, allowing the conversion of hardcopy scans and faxes into searchable electronic file formats that can be sent to a shared network drive, email or both. A single Re-RITE license provides Toshiba’s e-STUDIO multifunction product (MFP) users with an easy-to-use solution for converting paper documents into electronic files for efficient, comprehensive document management, improved document security and reduced costs throughout an entire network.

Developed by Toshiba Australia and powered by Redmap Software, Re-RITE sends any document scanned via the MFP to the user’s desktop via e-mail or a selected network drive in a matter of seconds. The user then can open the document and convert it to one of 16 different searchable file formats, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat PDF and HTML Web pages. When scanning from a color e-STUDIO MFP, the electronic document will appear in color.

“Toshiba’s Re-RITE software enhances the capabilities of our e-STUDIO MFPs and is designed to help companies streamline document intensive workflows and implement an efficient archiving system,” said Michael Alpert, director of Document Solutions, TABS. “This fully automated process requires no user intervention, reduces administrative and storage costs, and increases document accessibility, providing a substantial return on investment.”

Re-RITE also provides companies with an effective solution for complying with government regulations, such as HIPAA and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). For example, in the healthcare industry, Re-RITE allows electronic transmission and storage of documents, such as patient health information. This addresses HIPAA privacy requirements by providing a secure alternative to paper-based storage and transfer. Similarly, publicly traded U.S. companies that are required to comply with SOX can use Re-RITE to help ensure that all paper-based transactions are captured in one location for instantaneous retrieval.

For flexible document conversion, Re-RITE operates in default and batch mode and requires no client software. Designed for maximum versatility, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is performed in 17 languages.
