Tech Data Introduces Virtual Iron Server Virtualization Solutions to U.S. Channel

CLEARWATER, FL - Tech Data Corporation is the first U.S. distributor to offer value-added resellers (VARs) solutions from Virtual Iron, a leading provider of enterprise-class server virtualization and virtual infrastructure management software. Tech Data will support VARs deploying Virtual Iron and other data center solutions through its Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division (AIS).

"Corporate data centers support an array of business-critical applications ranging from CRM, ERP, business continuity and data backup to remote-access and server-based computing solutions," said Senior Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division, Pete Peterson. "Virtualization solutions, like those from Virtual Iron, enable VARs to design cost-effective and efficiently managed data centers that provide more reliable access to the applications their end-user customers need to do business every day."

Tech Data will distribute a complete line of Virtual Iron server virtualization and management solutions. Virtual Iron's software leverages industry standards to reduce cost, complexity and deployment time, enabling an extensive array of virtualization and data center management capabilities. The Virtual Iron Virtualization Manager, for example, is a central point of control and automation for the entire data center.

With it, users monitor data center activity, address performance issues, establish automated responses to potential issues and allocate resources in real time with no disruption of service or application access.

"We chose Tech Data as our U.S. distribution partner because of the extensive data center support and expertise they are creating through AIS," said Jeff Melvin, senior vice president worldwide sales and field operations for Virtual Iron. "Tech Data will provide tremendous value to VARs already familiar with virtualization as well as those gearing up to create their own virtualization practice. Virtual Iron's competitively priced solutions will open up new opportunities for VARs supporting the data center needs of both large and mid-sized businesses and organizations nationwide."

"Tech Data will collaborate with Virtual Iron to develop a wide range of channel programs and partner enablement activities to educate VARs about the technology and margin-building opportunities of these competitively priced solutions," said Director, Marketing, Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division, Amy Belcher. "Our dedicated team of sales and technical resources participate in regular training to provide expert support for VARs developing data centers incorporating a variety of virtualization solutions."

VARs can access www.virtualiron.com/free to obtain free, 30-day trials of Virtual Iron software to test and evaluate. They also can leverage Tech Data's 4,500-square-foot TDSolutions Center to test and demonstrate these solutions for end users in a real-world data center environment.
