Tech Data U.S. to Distribute Data Capture and RFID Solutions Manufactured by Intermec Technologies

Tech Data Corporation announced that it will distribute asset management and data collection solutions manufactured by Intermec Technologies Corp. Tech Data will help broaden the exposure of Intermec’s radio frequency identification (RFID), mobile computing, wireless networking, printer and data capture technologies to resellers focused on IT infrastructure, retail and small-to-mid-sized business (SMB) applications.

Tech Data will distribute Intermec products through its POS/Data Capture Specialized Business Unit (SBU), which tailors its product offering, sales and technical support to resellers targeting the demand for point-of-sale (POS) and data collection solutions in a wide array of industries. Products supported by the SBU include retail-hardened PCs, touch-screen monitors, pole displays, cash drawers, retail management software and a range of data capture handhelds, scanners and networking devices. Intermec products available through Tech Data include RFID scanners, label printers and supplies; secure networking hardware and management software; wireless handhelds, tablet PCs and printers; and data capture wands, scanners and barcode printers.

“Since establishing the POS/Data Capture SBU nearly two years ago, we have continually expanded our vendor line up and product offering to become a one-stop shop for POS and data collection solutions,” said Elio Levy, Tech Data’s senior vice president of U.S. Marketing. “The addition of Intermec helps us to offer customers the latest technologies that best position them to take full advantage of this growing market.”

“Intermec’s agreement with Tech Data provides an avenue to our technologies for a new and larger base of value-added resellers -- an important part of our continued growth,” said Intermec Chief Operating Officer Steve Winter. “A significant portion of that base includes IT and infrastructure resellers who have a need for our Cisco-compatible products. Additionally, the agreement will support Intermec's retail and SMB initiatives by expanding our presence with resellers focused on those market segments.”
