Tom Ouellette Named Business Technology Association’s 2010 ‘Volunteer of the Year’

Kansas City, MO (March 2010) Tom Ouellette, president of Budget Document Technology, headquartered in Lewiston, Maine, has been named 2010 “Volunteer of the Year” by the Business Technology Association (BTA). Ouellette, who currently serves as national vice president of the association, previously served as president of the BTA East district. He was presented with the award March 4 by 2009-10 BTA President Bill James during a reception hosted by BTA at the ITEX Show in Las Vegas, Nev.

“Our association is made up of dealers, vendors and staff, but the ‘ingredient’ that has ensured BTA’s ongoing success through the years is the ‘volunteer,’” said James. “Our volunteers dedicate many hours to guide the association toward developing the right programs and services to serve the dealer channel. This year, Tom Ouellette has distinguished himself among his peers as a volunteer. He has been very instrumental in the development of the BTA East education and networking event that has taken place in White Plains, N.Y., in the past two years, and remains involved as planning for the 2010 BTA East event is underway. Tom has also helped to bring a number of new members to the association. Certainly, we are grateful that Tom stepped forward to give back to the association through his leadership."

Ouellette said it has “been an honor” to work with his fellow BTA Board members during the past two years. “This is a group of individuals who have worked tirelessly to serve their fellow independent dealers; I’ve enjoyed working with each of them,” he said. “I would encourage others to volunteer to help guide the association. I guarantee they will find it to be a rewarding experience.”

In 1989, Ouellette founded his company in his garage as a single-man operation. Since then, the company has grown into a $3 million dealership serving central and southern Maine. The dealership sells Kyocera Mita America and Konica Minolta products.
