TROY Introduces Wireless Print Servers
TROY Group Inc. announced the introduction of the TROY200 series print servers. Based on new high-performance hardware architecture, the print servers are designed to meet the needs of any business requiring a high level of security, reliability, performance, manageability and support.
With the introduction of the TROY200 print server line, TROY continues its tradition of integrating the latest wired and wireless technologies into its products. This allows business and enterprise users to take advantage of their USB2.0-equipped printers, and wired and wireless 802.11a/b/g networking investments to ensure the highest network printing performance and the most robust security.
"We are pleased to introduce this new line of single- and multi-port print servers, targeting both business and enterprise customers," stated Harold Yin, executive vice president and general manager of TROY's Wireless and Connectivity product line. "Enterprise customers are increasingly deploying color printers and multi-function devices with high-speed USB2.0 ports to handle increasingly complex image-intensive printing applications. At the same time, enterprise wireless infrastructure deployments are increasingly tri-mode 802.11a/b/g with advanced encryption and authentication to ensure the highest security. Our TROY200 series meets these customer requirements for printer and copier connectivity," added Yin.
The new products have an auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet connection and are available in different port configurations with either a USB2.0 high-speed port, a parallel port or both. All three models are available with an 802.11a/b/g wireless network option to enable customers to connect at the maximum speed of the network and give the flexibility to segment wireless traffic on different channels.
The TROY200 print servers include enterprise-level security features including access control lists, complete protocol and application enable/disable control, read and write configuration passwords, and SNMP community name configuration. The wireless models also add 802.1x Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) with Tunneled Transport Layer Security (TTLS) or Lightweight Extensible Authentication Protocol (LEAP); Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP); Open System or Shared Key support with Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encoding; WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) Personal (WPA-PSK) and Enterprise modes, which utilize improved encryption via the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP); and WPA2, which adds Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
The TROY200 is easy to use with many different options for configuration and management. The included ExtendView Windows utility includes wizards for setup, configuration and management of multiple TROY print servers at the same time. All TROY products include an industry-leading 5-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.
