Two New Multifunction Solutions

Muratec America, Inc., manufacturer of multifunction office equipment and business productivity solutions, announces the availability of two new multifunctional solutions, the MFX-1450 and MFX-2050.

The 14 page-per-minute MFX-1450 and the 20 page-per-minute MFX-2050 are powerful solutions for the workgroup environment. Both models combine a standard 80-sheet automatic document feeder, legal-size platen glass and automatic mixed original detection to create a robust, not to mention cost-effective, document handling system.

Both models ship with a standard paper capacity of 550 sheets, consisting of one 500-sheet paper cassette that can handle up to legal-size documents, as well as a 50-sheet multipurpose bypass tray that can handle letterhead, transparencies, envelopes and various other media. An additional paper cassette can be added to bring the total paper capacity to 1,150 sheets.

The standard high-speed Ethernet port and 33.6 Kbps fax modem enable a host of digital document delivery solutions including scan to folder (SMB), FTP and e-mail, as well as routing to remote Internet fax terminals and analog fax devices.

Scan to folder is a key feature as it allows customers to perform a real-time browse through their network file structure and directly scan documents into specified folders, without having to install any additional hardware or software connectors. This operation mirrors the file searching process that Windows Explorer users have become accustomed to using on their PC. Up to 300 folder shortcut keys can be registered for one-touch scan initiation.

The MFX-1450 and MFX-2050 also feature 600-dpi color scan capabilities. In addition to delivering color documents over the network, both units can route color documents to a network-connected color printer, creating an inexpensive color copying solution. This is enabled using the standard scan to print monitor utility.

On the fax side the internal address book can house 1000 locations, each containing both a fax number and e-mail address. Users may import contacts from Microsoft Outlook (vCard) or other contact management databases (CSV). The intuitive PC fax driver enables users to send documents directly from PC applications to remote fax terminals.

Customers in high-volume fax applications can add an additional 33.6 Kbps fax modem, enabling the simultaneous sending and receiving of fax documents. Both models can integrate with a variety of popular fax server applications on the market by activating the standard e-mail gateway feature, creating an excellent solution for customers who wish to eliminate fax lines yet still require the ability to send hardcopy documents to remote fax terminals.

Usability, security and regulatory compliance improvements are also prevalent on the MFX-1450 and MFX-2050. Both models feature an intuitive touch screen which seamlessly guides users through job set-up and execution. The QWERTY keypad enables ad-hoc e-mail address entry, as well as custom file naming, e-mail subject lines and text messages.

LDAP compliance enables users to quickly access contacts from within corporate directories, such as Microsoft Active Directory and Open LDAP, while network authentication requires user log-in prior to gaining machine access.

In an effort to retain all fax and e-mail communications that are transmitted from the MFP, both models feature automatic transmission archiving to a secured network location. In the event of an audit all fax and e-mail transmissions can be quickly located. Inbound fax transmissions can be automatically routed to an e-mail inbox or network location to prevent sensitive fax data from being compromised.

In addition to enabling powerful digital document delivery, the MFX-1450 and MFX-2050 boast standard GDI-based network printing via the high-speed Ethernet connection, as well as local printing via the USB port. A redesigned PCL controller, featuring a 600 MHz processor, is available as an option. New print features such as Print on Demand and Security Printing enable users to work more efficiently and securely. Print on Demand allows users to locate commonly printed documents from the network and initiate printing from the touch screen. Security printing enables users to suppress document printout until a password has been entered on the machine.

The MFX-1450 features a listed MSRP of $2,695 and the MFX-1450D, which includes standard duplex printing capabilities, is listed at $2,795. The MFX-2050, which includes standard duplex printing, features a listed MSRP of $3,495.
