Xerox Canada Ltd. and EDS Canada Inc. have announced a managed services agreement valued at $14 million. Under the contract, Xerox Business Services will manage EDS Canada's document services and will assist EDS to develop improved workplace processes.
The agreement will deliver $1.5 million in savings to EDS over six years.
"Our partnership with Xerox Canada allows us to focus more intently on our core IT services such as applications development and support, business process management and e-commerce solutions," said John Dowd, president, EDS Canada Inc.
The services to be provided by Xerox include: a centralized reproduction department with production publishing; graphic design creative services; mail and document distribution; shipping and receiving and reception services. In addition, Xerox Business Services will manage document-related supplies and will conduct additional cost savings services.
Xerox will provide a range of document hardware and software to EDS Canada as part of the agreement, including office digital multifunction devices and digital colour presses such as the Document Centre 460ST, Document Centre 440STSLX, DocuTech 6135 and DocuColor 2045. The solution also includes Xerox DocuShare software, a web-based repository that allows for knowledge sharing across the company, and Flowport, a Web-based software application designed to manage the transition of paper documents to digital.
Under the agreement, 27 EDS Canada employees at seven customer locations in Toronto, Whitby and Ottawa will transfer to Xerox Canada.
