You may not know it, but you and your office equipment dealership or manufacturer can make a big difference to kids’ education. By supporting children’s education to give them a fresh start, in turn, they one day can make a positive difference in the world, business or otherwise. Benefactors in our industry are thankfully helping—  but the need is ongoing as more kids seek help. Did you know that:

• 13 Million U.S. children live below the poverty line

• Many teachers spend $500-$1,000 per year to help purchase supplies for their students that can’t afford them

Fact:
In August/September, as the school doors opened to welcome students, many came without the supplies they need to succeed because they cannot afford them. Simultaneously, these same schools are unable to give these students or their teachers all the needed school supplies because of decreased school budgets.

This is where The Kids In Need Foundation helps. The Foundation is the leading 501(c)(3) national charitable organization providing support for the education of America’s children. Since its founding in 1995, The Kids In Need Foundation has distributed over $300 million in Free School Supplies to kids from impoverished homes in the U.S. and over $1 million dollars in Teacher Grants to underfunded teachers. Besides the assistance from the larger manufacturers and retailers, there is still the ever present, ongoing need for any business to contribute - large or small - to help those children less fortunate. Sample lines from tradeshows, overstocked stores and warehouses is product that can help.

In addition, Marathon Projects is Kids In Need’s licensing agent, is assisting the Foundation in “partnering” with multiple corporations interested in becoming educational cause licensing partners. Kids In Need has already signed a few licensees, both manufacturers and retailers among others. Energizer Batteries and their licensed Energizer branded product (with the Kids In Need Seal) is being supported at Target with an endcap. Target is also a licensee, marketing a teacher’s pendant.

Other major retailers such as Office Depot, Joann Fabric and Craft Stores, Frey Meyer, and Publix supermarket are either national or regional sponsors of Kids In Need. Recent licensees include TechForEducators.com, an online retailer of hardware, software and electronics for education, and Innex, a major distributor of videogame peripherals and accessories. All corporations are sought to help kids across the country. Are you an organization that can help in some capacity as well?

All donations in goods/product/funding goes to helping our future generation, including our upcoming business professionals. Ultimately, helping these kids in need succeed in school can also help build America’s future  -  these children just need your/our assistance to get them there.
